Not a new hire — the January 2023 extension that made Swinney the longest-tenured contracted coach in the sport (through 2031) is included here as a consequential coaching-market decision of the 2020s. The post-extension years (9-4, 10-4 with the 2024 ACC Championship win) have stabilized the program in a way the 2021-2022 mid-tier-ACC seasons had not.
