Sarkisian's first two years in Austin (5-7, 8-5) were the wilderness; year three (12-2, the Big-12 title win in Sarkisian's last conference season, the CFP semifinal loss to Washington) was the breakthrough; year four (the SEC's first-year landing, 13-3 with back-to-back CFP semifinal appearances) was the vindication. Texas-as-blue-blood is back in the national conversation in a way the program had not been since the Mack Brown post-2009 collapse, and the Sarkisian operation produced it.
